Barrios Street Realty, LLC, in Louisiana got nailed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for ignoring American applicants for their job openings and then acquired H-2B visas in order to hire cheap labor like Disney and Facebook does.
Twelve American applicants had filed a complaint and the realty company has agreed to pay them $100,000 in compensation on top of the $30,000 fine for violating the Immigration and Nationality Act, which protects American workers from companies seeking to hire cheap foreign labor.
With the successful prosecution of this case, Trump’s DOJ, headed by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, has now prosecuted more cases involving the Immigration and Nationality Act than Obama did in eight years. He stood by while companies like Disney fired American workers in order to hire cheap foreign labor. That’s why it’s important to elect presidents who at least likes America even if they don’t love it.
In fact few if any liberals complained about the unethical practice of placing cheap foreign labor and higher profits above those of the American worker and the country. Also, notice who these companies are: Google, Facebook and Disney. What do they have in common? They are all liberal companies. More prosecutions should be brought to bear against companies that favor foreign workers over Americans.
Barrios Street Realty LLC made the payments as a settlement with the Department of Justice (DOJ). The DOJ had sued the company on behalf of the 12 U.S. citizens who applied for–but did not get–jobs at the company. Soon after their applications, owner Jorge Arturo Guerrero Rodriguez petitioned for workers through the H-2B visa program, which allows U.S. employers who meet certain requirements to bring in foreign workers. One of those requirements is that the company first check for qualified U.S. citizens before using the program, and Rodriguez had falsely claimed he couldn’t find any American workers for his roofing company.
“The Department of Justice will not tolerate employers misusing visa programs to discriminate against U.S. workers,” Acting Assistant Attorney General John Gore said in a statement. “We will vigorously prosecute claims against companies that place U.S. workers in a disfavored status.”
